The 54-page folio contains 54 paintings and was originally a book. It comes from an estate that has since died.
The collection is guided at £800 to £1,200.
It dates back to the mid-1800s when Japan was just starting to open up to Westerners after centuries of isolation.
GTH valuer Simon Rayner said: “I do like the woodblock prints.
“As they’ve lived their life in a folio, rather than framed on walls, the colours are still as vibrant as they would have been when the prints were made in the 1850s.”
This period’s artwork had a profound impact on European artists such as Vincent van Gough and Edgar Degas, who were avid collectors of Japanese art.
Simon clearly remembers writing many essays on this topic for his master’s degree in fine art.
The Octagon Salerooms East Reach in Taunton is hosting the sale.
