As you have read in this week’s news, the Citrus County Chronicle will be making some internal changes that will significantly improve the print quality of our newspaper. This was a hard decision but the truth was that our old equipment could not produce the quality print we knew our readers and advertising partners deserved.
Our presss and other equipment are so old that it is nearly impossible to make improvements. Many of the original manufacturers are no more in business, and therefore cannot offer repair services. The result is a printing quality that has declined to the point where it’s no longer acceptable. This change has unfortunately resulted in the loss of some jobs. I’m so pleased to say that most of these employees have already been redeployed to internal and external jobs. We are aware of the impact that this decision will have on the affected employees. I am committed to providing them with support during this transition.
On Tuesday, 18th July, in addition to the improvements made to the print quality of The Chronicle, we took some time recently to redesign the paper. I hinted about this change a few weeks ago in my column because I realize some people really don’t enjoy change. My hope is you’ll give these new improvements a few days to get accustomed to them.
Citrus County Chronicle: More Information
You can look forward to a daily variety of features in the Chronicle that reflect the varied interests and concerns our readers. We will continue to celebrate the local achievements, shine a light on unsung heroes and provide a platform to voices that are often ignored.
You’ll find a new wellness feature section on Wednesdays called “Well Being” and a new feature page on Tuesday focused on travel. Of course, we will continue the important features we’ve always published such as education, food, entertainment, religion, veterans, business, homes, and commentary. I know you’re wondering and yes we will continue to have all the great puzzles we publish and yes we will still have your favorite comic strips. Another question I’ve heard is regarding delivery. The delivery time you receive should remain the same. The distance between your home and our Meadowcrest facility will determine the carrier route. However, you shouldn’t experience any changes in delivery times.
The new changes will improve the flow of information and provide a feature section dedicated exclusively to local content. We know that our readers want and deserve local content. The rest of the country’s news can be found on your news channel of choice, but Citrus County local content isn’t easy to find anywhere else other than in the pages of the Chronicle and on our website.
The first thing we did was to redesign the paper’s visual aesthetics. The new Chronicle is a dynamic and modern design that has a refreshing and inviting feel. Our pages are now filled with vibrant colors, captivating layouts and captivating images, which will enhance your reading experience.
But aesthetics is not enough. The stories are the soul of journalism in a community. Our team of skilled and passionate journalists is committed to providing the most important news from Citrus County each day.
You already know that the Chronicle does not only exist in print. You can access all of our daily headlines, plus delve deeper into photos and stories.
We invite you to participate in shaping the future community journalism of Citrus County as we begin this exciting new chapter. Share your experiences, let your voice be heard, and celebrate your neighbors and friends. Together, we can create a community that is stronger and more connected, in which the power of journalism amplifies voices that matter.
We hope that you will enjoy our redesigned Citrus county Chronicle on Tuesday and thank you for taking a moment of your time to visit us.
Trina Murphy, publisher of The Chronicle.
