LANDIKOTAL – Officials said that Pakistan Customs and Frontier Corps personnel (FC) in a joint operation stopped a bid by the Taliban to smuggle millions of rupees worth garment rolls at Torkham’s border crossing.
Amjadur Rakhman, chief collector customs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa told reporters that they stopped a truck entering Pakistan from Afghanistan via Torkham border, based on credible information.
He claimed that the truck, which was loaded with coal, was searched. Foreign-origin suiting fabrics weighing 3575 kilograms were seized. The cloth rolls were hidden under the truck’s coal load. The truck was also confiscated by custom authorities and the driver arrested.
