Lorain’s hidden treasure is looking for its owner.
Lake Screen Printing Inc. at 1924 Broadway has been a local staple since 1975, say its owners.
TJ May and Tim Webb bought the printing-embroidery shop in May 2022.
Webb and May want their community to know they are still here for them.
“The most pleasant thing is that the people in Lorain are awesome,” Webb said. “As more people are finding out that we’re still open, support has been pouring in.”
The storefront is available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The owners are also employed by BSN Sports, America’s largest provider of sporting goods.
“We didn’t have any local print shops, so originally, our thought was to acquire Lake Screen Printing as a printing house for contract printing,” Webb said. “But we decided we ultimately wanted to keep the storefront and continue to provide services for the community like the previous owners have done in the past.”
He said that the storefront also stocks apparel that local employers might be interested in.
“We encourage people to bring their own merchandise in, or work with our full time graphic designer who can draft designs, but we also sell merchandise,” Webb said. “We have T-shirts, polos, jackets or anything people can think of.”
Lake Screen Printing is proud to support small businesses, he stated.
“Working and supporting local businesses is the best part of the job,” Webb said. “We try to reciprocate and make sure we also support them as well.”
Lake Screen Printing specialises in custom screen printing, contract printing, embroidery and promotional printing. They also do wide format digital print, signs, vinyl lettering, and wide format digital printers.
“A lot of our process is done in house, and we can do everything,” Webb said. “Our hope is to continue to grow and have production on every floor of our building.”
Lake Screen Printing is a complex two-floor operation behind the scenes that covers every aspect of the printing process.
Vesna Ristoski is the screen preparer for embroidery or printing.
“I get to clean the screens and make sure everything is nice and orderly,” Ristofski said. “It’s a very gratifying experience to make sure everything fits and is accurate; not every job is the same, and I really like that.”
Webb attributes the company’s success to its employees.
“Our employees take great pride in the work that they do; it’s not what I or anyone else do,” he said. “We all kinda figured it out together and the mistakes that we made, then were all a part of the learning curve, so I’m very proud of how far we’ve come.”
