Nine yards of freedom: Indian women take to running in saris to break taboos

NEW DELHI – Ms Meena Kvinde is a keen fitness enthusiast. She loves running through Mumbai’s crowded streets at an easy pace. But for years, she has grappled with one conundrum – derisive stares from passers-by.

She runs in a sari because it is the most comfortable garment she wears. She doesn’t feel comfortable wearing activewear that is body-hugging.
