DESIGNER OF STRUCTURAL PAACKAGING

SOUTH EAST

Salary £35-£40K + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

Hours: Mon to Thurs – 8.30am till 5pm & Friday – 9am till 3pm

Our client is a market leader within Bespoke, Creative, Printed Packaging based out of the South East. They work with top high street retailers as well as ecommerce leaders such Supermarkets and Brands. They provide end-to-end service, starting with concept and ending with delivery. This service is provided through their in-house design studio.

They are seeking a Packaging Designer to join the Design Team. As the Packaging Design Section Head, you will be responsible for the entire Design department. You are a motivated, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual.

The following are the key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the direction of the Packaging Design section within the Design department
  • You’re a person who is enthusiastic, eager, and hardworking
  • You will operate the company’s CAD System, using Impact software. A ZUND carton plotter is also required.
  • The Product Development team will work directly with you to create cost-effective and creative seasonal packaging solutions.
  • This role requires an in-depth understanding of CAD.
  • It would be very beneficial to have any knowledge about Impact, Arden, and Artios CAD Systems.
  • Produce high-quality packaging samples, be they white samples for prototypes or full-colour samples to approve brand/retailer approval
  • Carton drawings will be required for costing purposes.
  • This role requires a lot administrative work. Therefore, IT skills will be crucial.
  • You will also need to spend some of the time in the Print Department with the Roland Large FormatUV printer
  • The designers will assign you the task of printing mock-ups for clients. While you will receive training on the operation of this machine and its use, any previous experience is helpful.
  • Our Product Development team will work directly with you on VAP, AYR, and seasonal packaging briefs. They will create innovative solutions while keeping them cost-effective to produce.
  • It is an important role, especially given the seasonal nature of our business. This can make it very stressful and hectic. This role requires attention to detail and pressure.
  • Packaging Designer requires a high level of accuracy as well as the ability to keep your composure when under pressure.
  • You will need to be able think on your own feet and work well with briefs.
  • For this job, creativity and forward thinking are key.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of CAD, preferably Impact, Arden, or Artios
  • Ability to operate a table in CAD for sample making
  • Use of computers and IT knowledge
  • The ability to come up with creative solutions that can be manufactured at a low cost.
  • Communication skills and teamwork are essential.
  • A methodical, organised approach to working at the individual and group level.
