Top 5 Videos: Creality and AM in Europe

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday! This week we have a lot of exciting videos, from Creality and SolidCAM at Formnext, to 3D printed prosthetics and student projects. No matter your interest in medicine, education or big AM events, we hope to have something for you. If you’re missing Formnext, we hope these videos might alleviate the nostalgia. We hope you enjoy!

Top 1: Creality on Desktop Printing

This week’s first 3D printing video features some Formnext content. Creality, a Chinese manufacturer manufacturing desktop printers, is well-known for its affordable FDM and resin printers. Huilin Luu, the Executive Director, was interviewed in this video. He told us all about the company’s aims and ambitions, as well as about how their products can match a wide range of applications in the modern world. We see the Ender S1 as well as the Sermoon S3 and learn all about their benefits compared to other printers. Enjoy!

Top 2: 3D-Printed Prosthetic Breasts for Better Treatment

Our next video is about 3D printing’s exciting applications for the medical industry, not only in surgery. This video will explain one: prosthetic breasts to replace bra implants. Hugely important as a non-surgical option for women who have undergone mastectomies, UConn Professor Dr Liisa Kuhn has developed a 3D printing method which promises to produce comfortable, high-quality prosthetic options based on the patient’s needs. She tells us about the potential which 3D printing has- she can take scans from people anywhere in the country, make an implant based on that patient’s body shape and send it to them through the post.

Top 3: Best Printers from Formnext

In case you’re missing Formnext, we have more content for you! This video is straight out of the 3Dnatives newsroom. Madeleine Prior (English Content Specialist) went around the show looking for the most innovative printers. There were many options, including Rapidia’s metal solutions that use a paste and Sinterjet’s table-top binder jetting solution. Duplex, who use Multi-Direction additive production to print the part from both the top and bottom simultaneously, is another example. You can also find other Formnext videos HERE, and content starting in 2021.

Top 4: University Students Get Creative with 3D Printing

Next is a video that will show you how additive manufacturing can help education. The University of Sheffield offers a project space called the iForge Maker Space where students can create their products. The Maker Space offers a wide range of tools, including 3D printers and laser cutters. They also sell a variety of materials. Full-time staff are on hand to provide security and safety for students and their equipment. This is an exciting project, as not many creative spaces allow students to practice additive manufacturing techniques untaught. This will encourage young people to improve their creativity and help them get a job in AM.

Top 5: SolidCAM Desktop Printing

To round off this week’s selection of 3D printing videos we wanted to highlight a favorite of ours. SolidCAM uses hybrid technology to combine additive manufacturing and traditional CNC machining to achieve the best results. This video explains the possibilities of this application. SolidCAM offers advice on printer purchases and service provider provision to assist customers in adapting AM solutions for their business. We have the opportunity to view parts made by SolidCAM printers as well as learn about their post-processing capabilities.
